Many stay at home mothers are deciding to go back to work, either because the economy has forced them to go back, or because they are just ready to go back. What ever the reason, moms who are looking for work are finding it more difficult. With a high unemployment rate and a lot of people looking for work, a resume with ‘mother’ as the most recent employment history might not make the first round of interviews. Depending on how long you have been out of the job market you may find that your experience is irrelevant to an employer. A much more attractive prospect will have recent job experience to offer. New practices and new technologies have changed the face of business in recent years. If you haven’t kept up on all the new trends, then your skills my not be in demand.
So in light of this, what is a mom to do when faced with her need to earn income and the slumping job market? Going back to school is an option. Formal college education is always a good way to boost your resume. If you already have a degree you can consider going for your masters. After obtaining the new degree you may find a few more open doors to employment. However, you have most likely generated a lot of new debt and have spent more than a year or two with out earning the money you need now. Even if your new field pays a good salary, the time and expense getting there are quite discouraging for most.
Another idea to earn money right away is to take a lower paying job such as in a department store, restaurant, daycare, or care for the elderly. Most of these jobs will only pay minimum wage at best and offer little opportunity to advance. These types of jobs tend to be in high demand among those who have little experience or job skills so there may be many who are applying. One fast food restaurant manager said that he has been seeing applicants with master’s degrees applying for even part time jobs.
Direct sales, or becoming a freelance writer may seem like a good option. Most people find that on further inspection it will take too long to gain enough clientele to make a livable income, let alone build wealth. We chose not to join the direct sales industry because of the small compensation plan and not wanting to sell to friends and family.
Although these ideas may seem good to some, most will realize that they will never help secure their future or create wealth. We have determined that traditional jobs for moms who are just entering the workforce are not going to bring the result needed in a timely manner. So, what should moms do? In this global market age, the best solution would be to discover what could be done on line. The vast field of Internet marketing is always growing, changing, and expanding, making it an excellent place to do business. Training can be accomplished at home with less expense and time than a college degree.
Additionally the money you need could be earned while you are learning the trade. With a little research you can begin to be on your way to creating wealth for yourself and your family in a matter of days. Plus, you would have the added benefit of having a good tax credit for running your business from home. So before you register for classes at your local college and create more debt, or apply for that job in the department store, Do your research and find a mentoring program that will show you exactly how to market yourself online. Make sure that it is one that offers a lot of reliable training, and a mentoring system that will help you to be successful while you grow your business. Mastering the basics of Internet marketing might take several weeks, but if you have found the right mentoring program you are likely to be profitable in that short amount of time. It is the perfect solution for moms who are just entering the workforce.
